There was no way I was going to be able to talk to EVERY class this week about the box and the snowflake, so I decided to videotape my self showing the things from the box (using the script that Kim put above as guidance) and reading Robert's Snow. The tape turned out to be about 12 min. I am going to show it on the whole school system a couple of times this week and I asked the teachers to watch/show it before they come checkout because I bought a plastic display box to put the snowflake in so the kids could look at it when they checkout. Deb Randolph is finding out the book order information from Southwest books.
Look at Suggested Curriculum on her website.
Let's brainstorm some activities we can do to celebrate her visit.
I am looking into NEISD's procedures of raising money for charities. Any fundraiser needs to be approved by the district. I have made contact with the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, the organization that ran the snowflake auction. My original idea was to raise money to purchase another snowflake but the next auction is not until 2009. No dates have been determined yet. I am not sure if we can hold onto money as we wait for another auction. More information to come. Kim Green
